Abundant Offering

I saw a magnificent yellow and black butterfly glide through my garden kissing each flower passing and tenderly reminding me of the impermanence of life; a bittersweet knowing that the delicate breath of being-ness all too quickly expires. I know this is my conceit, how can I possibly understand the experience of being a butterfly? I understand only that my unconscious is speaking of my dying and making me acutely aware of how important it is that I appreciate being alive during the short duration of my life.

Celebrating the sensuality of being alive is the soul’s purpose when the Sun enters Taurus as it has today. The celestial spotlight is encircling the abundance of life and wetting our appetite for experiencing the full pleasuring of our lives. You got it, self loving is on the horizon. The Sun is that dimension in our unconscious expressing through our individuality. We experience the Sun as our core identity, our invincible Self, our unique “I” separate from all others. When under the influence of Taurus we unconsciously enter the collective experience of pro-creating ourselves embodied in the archaic experiencing of the Moon Goddess and the ritual sacrificing of the bull’s blood that is absorbed into the womb of the earth to insure the fertility of life. This may sound a little too visceral for the contemporary rationalizing of life but be assured that for the next thirty days some aspect of our identity is in the lusty arms of Taurus offering us the gift of renewal and rejuvenation.

When the Sun travels with Taurus our individuality is challenged to honor the pleasuring of our body and expose the nakedness of our Self to the trusting embrace of life. Taurus is a fixed earth sign striving for physical security hence our unconscious preoccupation with surviving (projected onto it’s symbiotic companion Scorpio) and our conscious accumulation of property. The Taurus dimension of ourselves has a true appreciation for all manner of beauty expressed in every cell of our physical being, running the gamut from nature’s untouched wildness to the cultural artifice of civilizations. Taurus is that aspect of ourselves invested in what we own and in accumulating what we value, which on the deepest cellular level embodies what we own and value within ourselves. The greatest gift of the Sun in Taurus is our ability to stand naked in the face of life, self confident in the value of our individuality, and appreciative of our unique contribution to being alive.
