Nuwa and Fuxi

Nuwa and Fuxi, sister and brother, wife and husband, from Chinese mythology the earliest literature of this myth is from 350 B.C. They were worshiped as the ultimate ancestors of all humankind, and are often represented as half-snake, half-human creatures.

I found it curious, Gemini’s influence upon my choice of image, that the snake portion of the bodies reminded me of the caduceus of Mercury, the entwined bodies the androgynous character of Mercury, the brother and sister – male and female – the theme of duality inherent in Gemini, and are those constellations surrounding the figures floating?
