Time

“In particular, when Mercury is retrograde, then something important is calling for awareness, and that particular ’something’ will emerge from the unconscious through the agency of Mercury. In the retrograde phase of Mercury’s cycle – like that of all subsequent retrograde cycles – we discover that life, like art, is by discovery not design.”*

Mercury is the journeyman in each of us navigating  the turbulent waters of our unconscious while directing a mindful awareness of our consciousness.  When Mercury enters Aquarius our perception of reality is infused with electrical shock waves jolting us awake, and lifting our consciousness out of a dark winter slumbering we leave behind the ponderous weight of our distrusting and doubting to step upon a magic carpet woven with the threads of immortal wisdom and mortal delights. This marriage of  Heaven and Earth, transports us into the welcoming arms of the intelligence of All Life where our perception of reality breaks free from  what we think we know allowing our self-awareness, now boundless and free, to expand our view of the whole rather than of the part.

When Mercury stations retrograde time moves backwards, and when the retrograde station is in Aquarius the celestial flood gates open wide tossing us back again into the turbulent waters of our unconscious  shaking up the preconceived ideas that guide our perception of life. The cosmos seems to be saying that before we can romp boundless and free amidst the Universe we need to re- adjust the knowledge of our past and re-align what we think we know with the authenticity of our present.

Mercury is heading backwards toward the Sun and will enter Capricorn on January 21 suggesting that what may need re-aligning are the physical structures we have built supporting our perception of reality. To fully comprehend the depth of change possible during a Mercury retrograde it is important  keeping in mind that the external landscape of our life is like a pool reflecting the internal landscape we create. The real work facing us during this retrograde cycle is to re-build the internal structures we built over time that are preventing our conscious awakening of our participation in the whole of life.

To bring this down to earth; consider that Aquarius is that aspect in each of us seeking security in knowledge, and because Aquarius is a fixed air sign we are working very hard at the moment to consolidate the sum total of what we know. If we turn our face to the light side of Aquarius we see our knowledge benefiting humanity, and if we turn our face to the dark side of Aquarius we are very likely to reject the knowledge of others regardless of how beneficial it is for humanity. Aquarius is the water bearer softening the hardness of our perception of life by nurturing our experiences on Earth with a cosmic flowing of knowledge. Aquarius can be that aspect in each of us honoring our individual participation in the cosmic flow of life, all we need do is open our mind and receive…………….

“Discovery” could be a fundamental design process, in the Cosmic Flow of life. It just depends on who the architect is!!! :) Nice Post though.

Thank your for your comment and perspective on the cosmic flow of life. I understand the quote to mean that there is not any “Grand Design” directing life because being alive is a process of discovery from moment to moment, and as you eloquently pointed out, a uniquely individual experience expressed in a myriad of forms.
