Mercury auspiciously stations holding hands with the Moon and Mars.

One very powerful way for understanding the subtle influence of astrology in your life is to observe how the planets talk to you throughout your day. I am not suggesting you start listening for strange whispering in your ear, but I am suggesting that the planets speak to you through your perception of your experience of your day. If this sounds too much like “whispering voices”, please consider my weekend experienced under the influence of many “classic” Mercury stationing retrograde symptoms. I confused directions, got lost, and was late for an important meeting. I mixed up dates for a dinner and my mind was more easily distracted than usual! And that’s not all Mercury offered this weekend, which you already know, if your weekend was more social than usual, spent with groups of people sharing similar interests, engaged in good spirited networking, or experiencing profound flashes of insight. Not surprising that I spent both Saturday and Sunday with groups of people and learned to appreciate the differences between quantity and quality of interacting with others. Aquarius expresses our capacity to be a member of a group of peers to garner mutual support and recognition for each other’s ideas, achievements, and contributions.

I can’t think of a more fitting tribute to Mercury in Aquarius than the peer support he is receiving today from the Moon and Mars as all three move in harmonious solidarity. During the next three weeks while Mercury Rx re-traces his previous steps through Aquarius we are challenged to re-think how effectively we communicate (Mercury) what we need (Moon) and want (Mars) in our group affiliations with friends, professional peers, and society ( Aquarius). By the time Mercury finishes his Rx stations he has traveled over the same territory three times meaning that here on Earth we have three chances to hear his message. I think one message Mercury id heralding is a new social awareness that respects and protects the sovereignty of every member of society not just a few. The oddity about Aquarian consciousness is the propensity for resisting other people’s ideas and stubbornly holding onto old thinking. Mercury’s job at the moment seems to be an early spring cleaning bent o shaking out our mental cobwebs and infusing our thinking with freshened air. Just in time to greet the Solar Eclipse on the February 6 which is certain to rattle the chains binding our mental perceptions.
