Perpetual Motion

I am writing at the end of my day rather than at the beginning having spent the light of this day in an emotional undertow that kept pulling me toward the shadow of my discontent. Moodiness, self doubting, insecurities tumbling out of my unconscious and I felt the lunar winds pressing at my back. I can’t help pondering the influence of today’s lunar occultation of Neptune as the Moon passes through the sign of Aquarius. Certainly for those of us who have a strong influence of the fixed signs, Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, Aquarius, dominating our natal chart this cosmic wandering will ring loudly in our ears, and all the more so, because it is a beginning pattern between the Moon and the planet Neptune culminating in a crescendo at the August Lunar Eclipse. Admittedly, I have an extremely sensitive fixed T-Square in my natal chart which is contributing to my personal experience of this event but even without pricking at my wounds it seems that this cosmic dance is offering us on earth the opportunity for healing a wounding suffered from human injustice and indifference; the cosmic spotlight on the sign Aquarius encircles the Moon, Neptune, Chiron, and the Moon’s North Node helping us scrutinize our individual participation and contribution to the source and healing of human injustice and indifference. And this is just the beginning of that journey.
Injustice is very much the face of Sagittarius and today the planet Pluto, the dimension within ourselves seeking growth and development through death and re-birth, stationed retrograde moving backward toward the sign of Sagittarius for one last jaunt before heading full force into the sign of Capricorn. Pluto wearing the face of our Cosmic power is the dimension in our unconscious seeking transformation; steadily, slowly, oh so powerfully working toward our rebirth in conscious awareness. When the planet Pluto changes direction as it did today we on earth are bound to feel the rumbling of the underworld beckoning us into the darkness of our unknown selves challenging our prescribed expectations of what life should, could, or will be. Perhaps it is the call of the wild in each of us demanding we reconsider our more cherished ideals and throw open our mind and heart to the echoes of Krishnamurti and “die to the known”. The death of an idea is never an easy process because it requires a fundamental change in perspective, similar to the mythic hero Hercules bending on one knee to subdue the threat of the Medusa, we too, have to shift our point of view if we are to grow in conscious awareness, otherwise we allow our thinking to turn us to stone.
Today, the planet Mercury, the dimension in each of us transmitting ideas and feelings between our unconscious and conscious selves, enters the sign of Aries bringing us courage and daring to think in new ways by stepping beyond the portals of our familiar ways of understanding. The Aries part of ourselves is our risk taker, our trail blazer, the daredevil inside each of us refusing to take no for an answer, to listen to another’s advice, or to wait for the faint-of-heart to follow. When we are under the influence of Aries we are in the blissful state of being; pure impulse set in perpetual motion driven to keep moving. The first aspect Mercury makes in Aries is a square to a retrograde Pluto, which feels a lot like hitting our heads against a brick wall of reality, unquestionably tempering our enthusiasm for rushing into new mental, emotional, and physical territories without conscious consideration for the consequences of our actions. The square is the aspect of confinement; the box we place ourselves inside for safety and security until we feel suffocated by our choice and feel the need to break free. There is no way around it, today, is the beginning of some change in our perception of ourselves and our life. Mercury is giving us the courage to dare to change and Pluto the force of will to make the change. Working together, Mercury and Pluto can bring depth to our thinking and understanding of who we are and how we experience the world. It seems certain in the coming months we will have ample opportunities to investigate the deeper motives behind our actions which will help us transform our perceptions of ourselves and our lives.
