Today is Mick Jagger’s birthday and Mercury’s ingress into Leo, and I can’t think of a more fitting expression of Mercury in Leo than the puer aeternus of rock and roll wailing, Jumpin Jack Flash it’s a gas gas gas, Happy Birthday Mick! Mercury in Leo is that aspect of our self refusing to grow old and mentally stale preferring the mischievous curiosity of our youth rejuvenating our enthusiasm for life than the dogmatic rules and regulations of our cynical and tainted maturing. Mercury is that aspect of our self that effortlessly travels between the numinous world of our divine immortality and the sobering world of our flawed mortality indiscriminately delivering messages that inspire others that bring despair. Restriction, limitation, even self-discipline, are anathema to Mercury, and when in Leo, Mercury has little patience for the tenacity of the proverbial tortoise, much preferring the self assurance, even arrogance, of the hare. When under the influence of Leo our child like wonder and enthusiasm for life overflows and our heart opens up with generosity for all. It is pretty difficult not to be swept away by the warmth and laughter of a Leo and when Mercury gets involved we can expect communication to be punctuated with dramatic hand gesturing and abundant exclamation pointing.
