Moderation in All Things

Yesterday was a blessed day for freely communicating what has been in our heart and mind to say; the heat of Mercury in Aries warming the most hardened of hearts. It may also have been a day of dreamy meandering between spaces of thought spending hours in a world of our own making while amazing ourself with flashes of unprecedented insight. Perhaps you were thinking outside the proverbial box or spent the day as I did wrestling with mental complexes learned long ago. Whatever the experience it seems destined to find comfort apart from the fold; unfortunately, Mercury was getting ready to change signs and whatever was exchanged between Mercury and Neptune will remain mysteriously incognito. Perhaps the cosmic message in yesterday’s transit is teaching us to think independently and pay less attention to what we think others are thinking about us. We can benefit from this transit if we shift our awareness and direct our thoughts to the earthy concerns of Taurus when on Thursday, April 10th, Mercury enters the sign of the bull. Mercury in Taurus is seeking concrete, reliable communication steering clear of too much “airy- fairy” conversational parody. The trick with Mercury in Taurus is to avoid stubborn attachment to what we think. When we are under the influence of Taurus we are seeking stability and Mercury in Taurus speaks in the voice of pragmatic conversation. Mercury in Taurus certainly is not a boring thinker even though it may seem so to a more erudite mind; on the contrary, this Mercury has a deep love of sensuality comfortably communicated through tactile experiencing of the body. When Mercury is in Taurus we on Earth are reminded to slow down our thoughts and become more mindful of the natural beauty abounding. Taurus is that aspect in each of us learning to appreciate who we are rather than what we own. If we turn our gaze to the teachings of Buddha Sakyamuni, born under the celestial sign of Taurus, we may then grasp the deeper purpose of Mercury in Taurus; appreciation for the simplicity of just being in life, and mindful of the eight fold path of moderation in all things.
