Challenging Changes

The first aspect Mars makes once entering Cancer is a jolting opposition to Pluto in Capricorn. Whenever the planet Mars and the planet Pluto connect in the cosmos we on earth experience an intense challenge to how we assert ourselves in life. The challenge may not be obvious to the external world but be certain that each of us deeply feels the challenge within. Mars is that dimension in ourselves which is open to a challenge and will impulsively dare to do the impossible; and Pluto is that dimension in ourselves which is hidden, working undercover investigating, revealing, and then irrevocably eliminating everything in the way of new growth. A process of transformation is possible when any planet contacts Pluto; when it is Mars we we will feel a powerful desire to transform some aspect of how we assert ourselves in the world. Mars is in Cancer so the emphasis is on what we are willing to do to feel secure in the world. If we have been expecting other people to take care of our emotional needs the Pluto aspect of our unconscious will present us with challenges teaching us to take personal responsibility for our emotional needs. If we behave without sympathy for the needs of others we will be challenged to become more ware of the needs of others. Remember, the Mars aspect in our unconscious perks up when challenged so this is a great opportunity for changing the emotional patterns we established as children which are not helping us achieve the emotional satisfaction we want as adults. Pluto will be in Capricorn for the next thirteen years insuring that we will learn more than one lesson about accepting personal responsibility for the choices we make in life; accepting responsibility for our emotional behavior places us at the portal of this period of transformation.
Today, we are given additional encouragement to transform our emotional conditioning with the nurturing hand of the Moon in lunar occultation with Mercury, Venus, and Neptune. A lunar occultation occurs when the Moon passes in front of another celestial body temporarily blocking that body from the earth’s view. The Moon is the aspect of our unconscious providing shelter for our deepest emotional responses to life, our prelinguistic experiences, which are reflected back to us as our instinctual nature. During a lunar occultation our deepest our deepest emotional conditioning enters into an intense conversation with another aspect of our unconscious; today, our unconscious will be conversing with how we communicate our emotions, value our emotions, and sacrifice our emotions. Today is definitely a feeling day with our internal celestial spotlight focused on “challenging changes”.
