Self Healing

Venus and PanToday in the spirit of the Autumnal Equinox when life on Earth experiences the perfect balance between day and night we find an opportunity to balance the light and dark within our self.  Sunday, our virtuous goddess of sensuality, Venus, fell into harmonious rapture with our virile god of the underworld, Pluto, and pricking our lusty appreciation for the earthier pleasures of life so begins three weeks of physical splendor. Venus has entered Virgo heralding a time of discriminating tastes and skillful maneuvers that can enhance the art of lovemaking, which in company with Pluto’s propensity for an intense penetration into any matter at hand promises us wondrous thunder. There is definitely a controlled desire flaming our passion which is reflected in the faces of Virgo and Capricorn made all the more potent amidst a contemporary atmosphere of casual promiscuity. Both Virgo and Capricorn exude self-restrain reminding me of a tenderly erotic scene  in The Piano of a finger seeking intimate contact with the beloved and finding a lone orifice for bodily pleasure through a small ragged hole in a leg stocking concealing underneath the nakedness of warm flesh.

Pluto, that aspect in each of us plumbing the depths of our unconscious to find the source of our inner wealth, is anything but casual; and Venus, that aspect in each of us weighing our inner wealth in relationship with others, demands the ardor of our desire free reign. With the skillful hands of Pluto we can disrobe the veils of Inanna setting free self imposed taboos about our body and our pleasure. It is time to pay closer attention to the impulses of our body and honor our primal need to be touched and lovingly fondled. Venus in aspect to Pluto intensifies our need for love setting the stage for Venus in the sign of service to aid us in perfecting our skills of giving love to others.

Yet, giving love to others is only half of the equation when Venus is in Virgo. When we are under the influence of Virgo we are seeking wholeness within our self by being that which only we, and no other, can be. One of the greatest gifts of Virgo is our ability to heal the imbalances within our self by finding refuge in a humble accepting of our self as we are, which then allows for us to accept others as they are. The fussy, finicky qualities traditionally associated with Virgo are inborn anxieties attached to an idea of perfection having very little to do with the flesh, blood, and bones of a body.

Virgo is that aspect in each of us seeking integration of our body and our mind, and as this month unfolds in the arms of the Virgo New Moon we are encouraged to relax the mental cords that bind us. Our mind has been working over time in tandem with a Mercury Rx in Libra weighing our every thought, metering our every deed, balancing the scales of our daily living. Venus in Virgo delights in our effort at working hard to improve our relationships but not at the expense of our physical pleasure. This is a perfect time to examine a variety of physical therapies, sex being only one, in service of finding the perfect formula for our own self-healing.
