The Chameleon Bringing Death

In African mythology the chameleon is a wayward messenger of the supreme being, as is Mercury messenger of the gods. One myth said that the chameloen forgot to deliver the message of immortality to humans, another that the chameleon was tricked into giving new skins intended for humans to a snake.
