Yildizname

Yildizname, this is an ancient image from the Ottomans illustrating the zodiac and the twelve astrological signs.

“What today is called “Astrology” was called “ ilm-i nücum” (science of the stars) (ilm=science , nücum=stars) in the world of Islam. İlm-i rucum was the foundation for astrology but it was a more comprehensive form of it. The masters of of ilm-i rucum were called “müneccim” (astrolog) and the manuscripts written by them were called “Yıldızname”
